Advocacy & Organizing

Statewide Violence Prevention

FORCE Detroit’s advocacy and organizing program empowers communities to lead solutions to violence through narrative change, grassroots mobilization, and coalition-building. We push for sustainable CVI funding, establishing Offices of Neighborhood Safety, and shifting from punitive policing to community-led interventions. By engaging policymakers, training grassroots leaders, and using strategic communications, we ensure those most affected by violence shape public safety practices.
Pushing for systemic change

Narrative Building

We use storytelling and media to challenge stereotypes and amplify the voices of those affected by gun violence. Through community-driven narratives and culturally relevant messaging, we highlight violence’s impact on Detroit and advocate for systemic change.

Facilitating Conversations

CVI Day

June 13th is our annual CVI Day in Lansing, MI, where violence-impacted community members meet with legislators to advocate for community-led safety solutions. The event educates policymakers on the importance of CVI funding, trauma-informed practices, and investments in impacted communities to promote dignity, recovery, and long-term safety.

Emerging Leaders National Network

The Emerging Leaders National Network Detroit Chapter connects community violence intervention leaders, organizations and partners to strengthen collaboration across Detroit. Through shared training, resources and the Build Peace Framework, the chapter supports coordinated services, develops local leadership and helps communities build sustainable strategies for preventing violence and advancing public safety. Detroit serves as the network’s first chapter and the model for future chapters nationwide.
